Living Tamil is a readers’ movement that brings Tamil literary enthusiasts together to present this literary tradition to the world by honouring writers, nurturing new voices and creating spaces where literature can be read, discussed and remembered across generations.
The people here come from different professions and countries, but they begin in the same place: as readers. They give Living Tamil its judgement, its reach and the practical labour that keeps an independent literary movement alive.

AnnualThe Living Tamil Lit Prize is the world’s largest literary prize selected and funded entirely by readers. It is also the largest literary prize awarded from India. The prize honours outstanding writers from across the world’s languages for lifetime achievement. The winner is chosen by a jury drawn from the global community of modern Tamil literary readers. The assessments and discussions of the shortlisted writers are made public. In this sense, the prize is also a reading movement.

WeeklySouthbound Review is an online weekly magazine run entirely by young people. It is a platform for presenting Tamil literature and other South Indian literatures to readers in India and around the world. It also aims to introduce readers in South India to outstanding writers and literary works from across world literature. The magazine will feature interviews, critical essays, short stories, poetry and book reviews.
